I wanted to buy a tissue holder I saw at Dapitan Arcade last Saturday but they’re selling it at Php 100.00 and there’s no way I would pay that amount for it. Haha. The next morning, I thought I’d try to do it myself since I still had extra fabric from my old pair of jeans (will probably make a post of all the little products made from that pair).
Sorry for the scrunched up tissue on the photo above - and in all of the photos pala haha but that's one of the reasons we need this holder anyway :)) Here
are the materials you’ll need:
Place
your tissue on your fabric and measure off the size of fabric you need with the
ruler and sharpie.
Cut to
size then draw a straight line to where you want to sew the 2 ends. These will be
your opened flaps in the finished product.
Fold it
on the marks you made, hold with pins, and start sewing.
Okay, I don’t sew and
(cue google) blanket stitch is probably the only type of sewing I remember from
grade school. You will then have this (sorry for the booboo if you see it haha)
Next,
turn the fabric on its wrong side then join the stitched flaps together and a
bit overlapping (making sure that the tissue will still fit) then mark the
other ends this time. Stitch them again to close the 2 ends.
And
then you’ll have this. It’s nowhere pretty at this point but I’m praying that
it will be at least acceptable once I turn it inside out.
And
thank you, Lord! I have a little booboo coz one of the ends didn’t hold with
the rest of the fabric but I told my mom already and she promised to fix it.
Haha!
Last step is to insert your tissue. Haha. Yay for not having to spend a hundred bucks!
