Organized Sewing Kit

Since I have been sewing a lot (a lot na daw yun hahaha) lately, I've been burdened to organize our sewing kit. No judging please. Here's what it looked like:

The first layer:

And the bottom part:

I promise I purged it up to the tiniest piece of clip or button. Every single accessory got an assigned place. And everything that didn't belong here went to where they actually belong in our house.

Purging always reveals things you never knew existed, or things you don't remember having, or things you don't understand why it happened in the first place :)) One example is this sting ray stuffed toy:

Poor thing. But the more important thing is it's not the safest pin cushion alternative.

I also didn't know we had 4 tape measures. When you can't really find one the moment you really need it.

Also, a super surplus of sewing pins? How did it come to this? :))

I emptied out the box and made sure everything finds a category and a home.

For those who are organizing a space without deep cleaning the room or bin you're using, you're missing the point. You can't call a room or space finished nor organized without cleaning it. This is a very essential part in organizing. If you miss this step, you're only fooling yourself. Okay, just wanted to let that out :)) And so, I cleaned it. Haha.

I found super small pieces of clips (and I don't know what they're called hehe)

Which I put in separate mini zip lock bags.

I don't throw away boxes like those from soap, toothpaste, etc. because I just know in my heart that I can use them somehow someday. And today's the day! I receive these twice a year from a student during Teachers' Day and Christmas :))

I cut one side to form a compartment for these:

I also used a small tupperware (already inside the kit, but you barely saw it in the before photo right? Haha) and arranged the others there.

Can we just take a moment to admire this set? Ang sarap huminga ng maluwag :D

I put all needles where they're supposed to be:

These remind me of grade school cross stitching days!

I used another soap box to rearrange them. I put them sideways so one can easily see the available colors. Ahhh. A lot better.

Now the fun part. Before and after photos! Here's the first layer:

The bottom layer:

And you can finally close it!

Soooo much better. And I hope and pray that it stays this way!

As you can see on the top photo, I organized all lose buttons in one small container. Put stitch ripper and pins in one compartment, thimble and needles in another, and pin cushions and small zip locks in the biggest space.

For the bottom compartment, I put there all sorts of thread and other bulkier pieces (stapler sewer - ya I don't know how to use this one haha), scissors and the set of pins. I'm happy I can I finally tick this off of my to-do list :)
