Krabi Thailand

Went to Krabi, Thailand last April and it's such a good way to start my summer. It was a late start but it's also worth the wait and the save. I know Phuket or Bangkok is the mas sikat tourist spot in Thailand but we're hipsters like that. Hahaha.

Here's my Krabi Trip Top 5!!

1. The Company

This is my first official vacation with my boyfriend. Since we’re in a long distance relationship, getting to see each other is already a huge blessing and to have this vacation with him is such a bonus for me.
We went there with his college friends and although there were only 5 of us, I think that’s a good number for a getaway - enough for good company and not too much for a well-deserved time of relaxation.

Photos were taken (at the same time haha) on the day we got there. We spent it exploring the resort :)
2. The Hotel

Sheraton Krabi is an awesome hotel. I love the service, the people are nice and accommodating, and the rooms are spacious and just had everything we need. We booked our hotel transfers and tours with them and it was easy and hassle free. It’s also a good thing that we’re a crowd that’s easy to please. We were happy with our pimped up vans, cold towels, and people serving us haha.
The hotel grounds may improve more on their maintenance (ponds, shoreline, etc) but those were only minimal. The landscape, the infinity pools, and the posh lobby compensated for them already. It’s laid back yet high end. It’s a relaxing beach resort and we almost never left it were it not for our booked tours.
3. The Tours

Phi Phi Island Tour

I had a few hesitations about this tour because we were joining in with a big group. But it’s a good thing we chose this (rather than a private option which would cost us Php4,000 to Php5,000 each hahaha). Transfers were very organized, our speed boat and tour guides were good. The hotel provided us beach towels (you would know which ones are from your hotel because you all have the giant blue towels haha), unlimited Coke and water, plus fruits and cake towards the end of the tour.
Crowd was okay since we’re all foreigners. I didn’t feel that we had to rush or anything on any of the stops. We had enough time to swim, explore the island, take pictures, relax, and eat. I can’t remember all the names of the islands we went to but there were 2 snorkeling spots and several beaches with such amazing and breath taking views.
It's kind of a shame though that it's almost impossible to take a decent shot of the view without people photo bombing but I guess it's just a matter of timing and technique (diskarte is the more appropriate word).
It’s also just a matter of having a cool head and a good attitude – being thankful for the opportunity to experience something like this and see God’s creation, rather than complaining about all the people or the weather.

Here's Maya Bay where the movie The Beach (Leonardo Di Caprio) was shot. We were all giddy when we finally got here!
Overall, the view and the chance to experience this with friends made everything worth it.

Elephant Trekking

It’s my first time to ride an elephant and it was awesome! It’s a good thing I’m with Josh and not my other girlfriends because I was such a girl throughout the whole ride. It was a bit frightening and really bumpy hahaha! I was scared of falling or my camera slipping off my hands especially when the elephant was crossing a short river. The elephant stopped a lot to eat and did occasional butt scratching on trees. We were able to feed them and watch them bathe in the river afterwards. Cool experience :D
4. The Budget

Super thanks to my hotelier boyfriend, we were able to get big discounts for our room and the restaurants. For the 4 days we spent there, we only ate outside the hotel twice. Thanks to our discount, our meals at the hotel almost cost the same as when we eat outside.
5. The Food

I’m not creative at all when it comes to food. I’m always the bunso who orders friend chicken in every restaurant. It’s Josh (and my sister Eka) who encourages me to try new dishes. It’s my first time to try Pad Thai and I loved it! All the food we tried in the hotel restaurants were also soooo yummy. It’s really a struggle to be on a beach trip with such good food!
This trip was really a good one and I will definitely return to Krabi someday. Credits to Meh, Mikko, and Gabo for some of the pictures. (I shall also edit the photos when I can, I don't know why they became pixelated huhu)
