These pillows came in with the car we bought from a doctor friend early this year.
I finally had the courage to sew again and this time to make pillowcases for these babies. I'm a thrifter. I don't buy fabric but I thrift dresses with cute prints! I have poor to zero sewing skills but thank God they still turned out okay :)
I started off with 2 fabrics. Both were once dresses. The left one I didn't actually thrift but I really didn't like the way it fit me anymore. The right one I didn't get to take a picture before I cut it up to re-upholster my office chair.
A closer look on the prints.
I combined them because I didn't have enough fabric to make 2 pillowcases with a single dress (wanted to save the skirt portion of the red one). I could make a case from each fabric but I wanted them to be a pair, so, yeah I combined them :P First is of course, measure your pillow.
And then measure and cut your fabric to size, with one slightly longer than the other.
Place them on top of and facing each other (wrong side out) and use pins to keep them in place.
Before actually sewing, check with your pillow again if they actually fit hehe
Then start sewing. 3 sides only, leaving the side where the longer fabric is.
I tried a different kind of stitch this time. While I was doing this I think I was doing the double running stitch. But I just googled it now and it doesn't look like one HAHAHA
Now flip it
And insert your pillow! For the flap or extra fabric, just hide it inside the case.
Before I finished the first one, I was thinking if I would have to sew it again to make it stronger but I think it looks okay as is.
I didn't really want to do the second case anymore but I'm happy that I forced myself to do it :)
They're not perfect but I'm proud of this project just the same. Aaaand they're supposed to be for my car but they look cute on my bed so far. These will stay here for now!
