I was inspired by the Christmas slash birthday loot my best friend got me last year.
Everything is art for the best friend, so I wasn't surprised receiving this beautiful loot . But I'm not as creative and I was only hoping to come up with at least something decent. I used the following materials:
3 types of papers - craft paper from Divisoria, houndstooth pattern wrapping paper from (a pop up store in) Gorietta, and Japanese/tissue paper from National Bookstore
2 types of strings - white rope from Ace Harware and twine from Japan Home
Plus of course, your gift wrapping staples - tape, scissors, and pen :)
And these are the styles I came up with. This post isn't necessarily a DIY tutorial but I hope you can also gain inspiration from this or stir up ideas for your next gift wrapping needs :)
Here are some few things I did for my gift wrapping sesh:
1. Put on some music to get you in the mood. I just searched for a Christmas playlist on Spotify.
2. Recycle old boxes. First is it's easier to wrap, and next is it's harder for your family members to guess what their gifts are. I went to our stock room and rummaged for boxes and glad to have found various sizes, and even happier to not spend on new ones :)
3. Use Japanese/tissue paper to protect your gifts (from the old box) and to add a design element as well.
4. Using more than one type of paper doesn't only help prettify your gift, it also helps in covering areas where your paper runs out. I hate having to cut another sheet of wrapping paper just for a small piece. By combining different types of paper, I lessen leftovers and lessen waste too :)
5. I didn't buy gift tags anymore because the design I like costs P200 for 10pcs!!! So I just wrote directly on the craft paper and saved my money for food haha. For the gifts I wrapped with the houndstooth pattern, I cut out a piece of craft paper to serve as my tag. You can use any type of (board) which will match your theme.
There you have it! Happy gift wrapping and Merry Christmas!!! :)
